Switching Off
We are living in a fast-paced, overly-stimulated, high-stress, chaotic world. So what do you do, or where do you go to "switch off" to find peace?

In the current world we live in, we are bombarded by our technology delivering minute-to-minute updates - pager alerts, media/news blasts from the second we get in the car, to when taking a break in the work lounge, phone messages, you name it - these multiple information sources, and the countless opinions (all differing, and oftentimes confusing), and the speed at which they are delivered, is astounding. All of this can leave the 'receiver' (you and I) sometimes feeling stressed and lost in all the facts and viewpoints. Information overload impacts our minds, bodies, and overall sense of self. So what do you do, or where do you go to "switch off” to find peace?
Today, I’d like to encourage you to choose any unnecessary sources to step away from for a period of time (i.e. a week or month), and then reflect on how you feel. And if that isn’t a manageable goal in your life right now, then try taking some time to immerse yourself in nature, where your mind will have no choice but to take a brief time-out. Hopefully you feel calmer and clearer, despite the world’s pressure to stay plugged in to every outlet (tv, radio, cellphone, newspaper, etc.) in order to know how to navigate your life. There are many quality sources of information available; simply be discerning about what really strengthens and encourages you, so you can live each day more freely!

Wherever you are at in your life right now, I am confident the following words will bring you some comfort today…
The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
He maketh me to lie down in green pastures:
He leadeth me beside the still waters.
He restoreth my soul…
-Psalm 23
